Las Vegas, NV – February 25, 2025 – UP.FIT is excited to announce the upcoming deployment of a revolutionary fleet of customized Tesla Cybertrucks to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). This groundbreaking initiative, revealed today during Sheriff Kevin McMahill’s State of the Department address at the Fontainebleau, marks a monumental leap forward in law enforcement technology and operational capability.
The announcement, which drew significant attention at the event, underscored LVMPD’s dedication to embracing cutting-edge resources. As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Cybertruck announcement “stole the show,” highlighting the vehicle’s unique potential to redefine policing in the region.
UP.FIT’s unique approach to law enforcement vehicle integration is built on extensive research and development where the team has invested heavily in performance component optimization, specialized equipment integration, and advanced electronics engineering to ensure these Cybertrucks meet the rigorous demands of modern policing. This dedication to innovation allows us to provide solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also exceptionally reliable and effective.
“Under LVMPD’s visionary leadership, our team at UP.FIT is thrilled to be engineering a fleet of cutting-edge Tesla Cybertrucks. These state-of-the-art machines represent the police force of the future—today. This collaboration reflects our shared dedication to delivering tailored, exceptional solutions that enhance officer safety, operational superiority, and community well-being,” said Ben Schaffer, CEO at UP.FIT.
As noted by 8 News NOW, these “badass” Cybertrucks are being provided through a generous donor, demonstrating the community’s support for innovative policing solutions. The FOX5 Vegas coverage further highlighted the excitement surrounding the introduction of this advanced fleet.
The deployment of these electric vehicles aligns with LVMPD’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint. The Cybertruck’s electric powertrain offers significant environmental benefits, while its robust design and advanced technology provide officers with a powerful and reliable tool for serving and protecting the community.
“This partnership with UP.FIT represents a significant step forward in our efforts to provide our officers with the best possible resources,” stated Sheriff Kevin McMahill during his address, as reported by News 3 LV. “These Cybertrucks will enhance our ability to respond to emergencies, patrol our streets, and keep our community safe.”
Future Savings for the Department and Taxpayers:
In addition to enhanced performance and sustainability, the deployment of UP.FIT Cybertrucks will result in substantial savings for the department and taxpayers. Based on 2024 average energy costs of $3.78 per gallon of gasoline and $0.21 per kWh of electricity in the Las Vegas region (bls.gov/data), each UP.FIT Cybertruck is expected to deliver annual fuel savings between $8,800 and $12,000 compared to a gasoline engine, all-wheel drive police pickup truck. Furthermore, very conservative estimates of scheduled maintenance over five years indicate an estimated minimum savings of approximately $3,540 per vehicle.
Over a typical five-year useful life of an internal combustion engine (I.C.E.) police pickup truck, these savings amount to an estimated $47,540 in taxpayer savings per deployed truck. However, the potential savings are even greater when considering the potential to extend the useful life of the police fleet vehicle. The Tesla Cybertruck comes with a Tesla battery and drive unit limited warranty for a period of 8 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. This means that, relative to the common practice of cycling a police pickup truck out of the fleet around five years or 100,000 miles, an UP.FIT Tesla Cybertruck may remain in the fleet for 1.5 times the useful life as compared to an analogous I.C.E. police pickup truck. This extended lifespan of the UP.FIT Cybertruck will compound annual fuel savings while also reducing the frequency of expending additional taxpayer dollars to procure new vehicles, thus maximizing the return on investment and saving thousands of dollars more for each additional year the truck is in use.
UP.FIT is proud to be at the forefront of this transformative initiative, and we look forward to seeing these Cybertrucks in action on the streets of Las Vegas.
