Q: How long can we use one of these vehicles in a day – can it really make a full shift?
Yes. A standard 12–14 hour patrol shift is well within reach for an UP.FIT Patrol Tesla, and several of our deployments run vehicles 24/7 on as little as one charging session per day.
A few facts that surprise new adopters:
- 1. Shift-end charging is the norm. Most agencies charge once per shift at the station — Level 2 overnight for assigned vehicles or Level 3 / Supercharger top-offs at shift change for shared vehicles.
- 2. 24/7 utilization is feasible with even a single Level 3 or Supercharger top-off per cycle. We can model the energy math for your specific patrol area before you order.
- 3. Climate and communications draw is dramatically lower than the equivalent gasoline idle burn that would otherwise be required to keep the same equipment alive in a legacy patrol vehicle.
The vehicle does not have to rest between shifts the way a traditional patrol vehicle does. It just charges.
