Q: Why an EV instead of a gasoline patrol vehicle?

Idle time is the single largest hidden cost in a legacy gasoline patrol fleet, and EVs eliminate it.

  • 1. No fuel burned for idling. A typical Ford Police Interceptor Utility will spend over 60% of its time in use on patrol, idling and burning an average of over 1,200 gallons per vehicle per year — just sitting still and idling the engine to provide electricity to power emergency equipment, climate control, modems, laptops, etc. An UP.FIT Tesla powers all of that from the high-voltage battery without idling and therefore using a very small fraction of the energy a Ford Police Interceptor uses while idling.
  • 2. No tailpipe emissions in your vehicle climate control system or in your community. When idling in place, a patrol vehicle’s climate control system is penetrated by vehicle exhaust contaminants, even when the exterior vents are shut and set to recirculate cabin air. For the community, converting one patrol vehicle to an EV can eliminate over 55,000 lbs of CO2 per year. Less respiratory exposure to vehicle exhaust for officers and residents alike.
  • 3. Predictable energy costs. Electricity rates are dramatically less volatile than gasoline. Your fleet budget no longer swings with the price at the pump.
  • 4. Aligned with the future. As public EV adoption accelerates, having an EV-fluent fleet boosts recruiting potential, public engagement, and long-term cost stability.

UP.FIT EVs deliver better operational economics, longer-lasting vehicles with fewer surprises and fewer wasted dollars.
